Opening and verifying an account
Registration looks similar at every operator: correct personal details and an identity check ahead of the first payout. An ID and something that evidences your address usually suffice. Depositing under a name other than the account holder's causes delay.
Dutch or French is not guaranteed, and complaining to the Commission is not an option. Leave the transaction mails in your inbox; in a disagreement it comes down exclusively to those.
On payments, Belgium leaves little choice: you deposit with the Bancontact card or the app, and winnings return through the bank. What you may still know as Payconiq has been Bancontact Pay since March 2026.
Bancontact Pay limits to €1500 per operation and €2500 per 24 hours. What you deposit is there right away; on your account it usually appears after one to three banking days, with the operator's own turnaround on top.

Limits, age and EPIS
The Belgian legislator approaches player protection considerably more strictly than a few years ago and you notice it at signup. The standard limit runs to €200 per week per site.
Exclusion runs centrally through the EPIS register: the exclusion applies instantly across the whole licensed landscape. The request goes through the regulator itself. The age bar moved on 1 September 2024 from 18 to 21 for casino, hall and betting; scratch cards and Lotto stay at 18. Without valid ID you do not get through.

What is EPIS?
By filing an EPIS request with the regulator; it applies at once across the licensed landscape. Unlicensed sites are not connected to it. Relatives can, in certain cases, file a request.
Does Bancontact work here?
Yes, by card or app. The payout then runs by bank transfer. A different name on the account blocks the payout. Keep the confirmation e-mail of every deposit.
Is Cazeus legal in Belgium?
No — the name is missing from the white list and shows up in the blocking register. The regulator keeps both lists current. Always verify it yourself before depositing.
Are winnings taxed?
No. In Belgium gambling winnings are untaxed for the player — the levy sits with the operator. Winnings stay outside personal income tax. The operator remits the levy, not the player.
